“Transform your Mind” is an eclectic group therapy that combines different therapeutic modalities. This program runs five weeks long with two 75 minute sessions a week (10 sessions total). Group therapy has multiple benefits, including promoting health and wellness focusing on coping skills, mindfulness, stress management, and goal achievement. This group incorporates elements from several evidence-based treatment interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), some components of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), positive psychology, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness exercises.
In group therapy, participants learn:
How to communicate effectively
How to cope with everyday life situations
How to improve overall self-esteem and to hold a healthy self-image
How to achieve personal goals and to identify barriers that prevent attainment
How to identify cognitive distortions and to learn techniques/skills to reframe distortions
Mindfulness exercises and practicing “being present”
This group is exclusively for adolescents between the ages of 14-18 years. There will be a total of 10 sessions that will run Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:15 pm (please note that the participant may not miss more than 2 sessions). The group will be co-ed and have 6-8 adolescent participants.
